Chester Dawes

Chester R. Dawes is the Chief Operating Officer and Chief Financial Officer of Palistar Capital. Mr. Dawes has over 25 years’ experience in financial services and industrial companies focused on operational finance, process improvement and complex transactions.

Prior to joining Palistar, Mr. Dawes was the Head of Finance Transformation, Global Wealth and Asset Management for Manulife/John Hancock, an organization that manages over $800 billion in assets. Before joining Manulife/John Hancock, Mr. Dawes was the Chief Financial Officer & Treasurer for one of the largest private equity firms in Canada, specializing in distressed and undervalued investing, where he helped raise over $6 billion in capital and played a pivotal role in growing the firm.

Mr. Dawes also served as CFO (Specialty Funds) and Director, Finance at Brookfield Asset Management, Inc. He has also held progressively senior positions in Canada, Europe and Asia for Husky Injection Molding Systems Ltd. (“Husky”). Prior to joining Husky, Mr. Dawes had been an auditor with Deloitte in Toronto, Canada.

Mr. Dawes is a Chartered Professional Accountant (Ontario), Chartered Accountant (Ontario), Certified Public Accountant (U.S.), Certified Global Management Accountant, and a CFA charter holder. He holds a Bachelor of Mathematics, Honors Mathematics-Chartered Professional Accountancy degree, and a Post Baccalaureate Diploma from the University of Waterloo.
