John W. Diercksen
John W. Diercksen was the Executive Vice President of Verizon Communications Inc., with responsibility for key strategic initiatives related to the review and assessment of potential mergers, acquisitions and divestitures. Mr. Diercksen retired in late 2013. He currently serves as an Executive In Residence at Liontree Capital Advisors. Mr. Diercksen serves on the boards of Intelsat, Banco Popular and Cyxtera. He formerly served on the board of Harman International prior to its sale to Samsung.
From 2003 to 2012, Mr. Diercksen was Executive Vice President Strategy, Development and Planning for Verizon. He was instrumental in forging Verizon’s strategy of technology investment and repositioning its assets through the acquisition of spectrum including the cable spectrum transaction; the merger with MCI; the Altel acquisition; the restructuring of international assets; the spinoff of Verizon’s directories unit and landline assets; and the Terremark and Cloud Switch acquisitions, as well as the acquisition of Vodafone’s partnership interest in Verizon Wireless in September 2013.
Prior to that, Mr. Diercksen was SVP Investor Relations for Verizon, Acting Group Head Directory for Bell Atlantic, CFO and CIO of the Directory Group and held various senior roles at NYNEX Mr. Diercksen was named CFO of Bell Atlantic’s Directory Group in 1997 and CIO in 1998.
Mr. Diercksen earned a Bachelor of Business Administration from Iona College, an MBA from Pace University and has completed postgraduate work in financial management.
